How sponsorship works

We ask for a donation of $200 a year for each monk, nun or refugee you sponsor. You may sponsor as many as you like.

Once you become a Sponsor a Committee consisting of senior monks at House 2A and Venerable Geshe Tenley will evaluate who has the most need and assign them to you.  You will receive an introductory letter from the Board of Directors providing you with your sponsored name, address, as much information as we have and a photo if possible.  Please keep in mind there are sensitive issues around identifying them which have the potential for repercussions to families family in Tibet.

Due to the rules at Sera Jey most monks, especially the young ones, are not permitted internet access.  Your only means to communicate with them is by letter.  We encourage you to write to them often and send photos.  There is the obvious language issues but there are several monks who speak and read English well and help with translation.  A return letter is not guaranteed.  Their days are long and filled with study and prayer.  We do our best to have them write.  It is always exciting for me to visit and see a sponsor’s photo on an altar.
